Columbus (Sept. 9, 2009) -  Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) President Barbara J. Howard has appointed Patricia A. Walker, a principal in the Medina firm of Walker & Jocke, to serve as chair of the Intellectual Property Law Section for 2009 - 2010.  The OSBA maintains 41 standing committees and 11 sections, each of which monitors a particular area of law.  Committees and sections work to improve the justice system by keeping Ohio lawyers informed about the latest court decisions and regulatory changes.  In addition, they comment on bills before the Ohio General Assembly and draft their own legislative proposals to improve existing laws.

A former member of the OSBA Board of Governors, Walker is a certified bar counsel and a past president of the Medina County Bar Association.  She is also a member of the OSBA Council of Delegates, past chair of the OSBA Digital Technology Law Committee, co-editor of the OSBA Intellectual Property Law Section newsletter, and a past trustee and a distinguished life fellow of the Ohio State Bar Foundation.  In her community, Walker is immediate past president of the Medina County District Library Board of Trustees, vice-president of the Medina County Law Library Association, and is a member of the Medina County YWCA Advisory Board.  She also is a past president of the Board of Trustees for the Literacy Council of Medina County.  Walker received her law degree, cum laude, from the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University in 1981.
