Columbus (Sept. 9, 2009) - Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) President Barbara J. Howard has re-appointed C. Lynne Day to chair the Women in the Profession Section for 2009-2010. The OSBA maintains 41 standing committees and 11 sections, each of which monitors a particular area of law. Committees and sections work to improve the justice system by keeping Ohio lawyers informed about the latest court decisions and regulatory changes. In addition, they comment on bills before the Ohio General Assembly and draft their own legislative proposals to improve existing laws.
Day graduated cum laude from Wittenberg University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and minors in sociology and economics. She went on to attend law school at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. Day completed an internship under Judge Marvin Halbert at the Philadelphia Common Pleas Court, and also served as a mediator for the Franklin County Municipal Court. She is currently a partner in the Chardon firm of Petersen & Ibold, where she practices family law. She is also active in the legal community, serving as a member of the Ohio Women’s Bar Association, the Geauga County Bar Association, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Day was identified as an Ohio Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in 2005, 2006 and 2007, and was named Board Member of the Year by Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Northeast Ohio.
The Ohio State Bar Association, founded in 1880, is a voluntary association representing approximately 25,000 members of the bench and bar of Ohio as well as nearly 4,000 legal assistants and law students. Through its activities and the activities of its related organizations, the OSBA serves both its members and the public by promoting the highest standards in the practice of law and the administration of justice.
