OSBA president to address lawyers during district meeting in Findlay

COLUMBUS (Sept. 22, 2009) – The president of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) will visit Findlay on Monday, Oct. 5 to speak to area attorneys about current issues facing the legal profession.

Barbara Howard, 2009-2010 OSBA president, will address the annual luncheon meeting of OSBA District 3 at The Findlay Inn & Conference Center (200 East Main Cross, Findlay).  OSBA District 3 includes 499 members who practice in Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Paulding, Putnam, Van Wert, Williams, and Wood counties.

Daniel M. Snyder of Findlay will be recognized for his 50 years of service to the profession.  Megan E. Newlove of Bowling Green will receive the Ohio State Bar Foundation Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under.

Max E. Rayle, District 3 representative on the OSBA Board of Governors, will preside over the meeting, which will include the election of one member to the OSBA Board of Governors and two members to the OSBA Council of Delegates.  Kenneth L. Lather, Hancock County Bar Association president, will deliver welcoming remarks.  OSBA members are welcome to attend the business meeting at no charge.

Prior to the noon luncheon meeting and recognition, an optional 2.75-hour continuing legal education (CLE) seminar will be offered from 9:00  to 11:45 a.m. (registration and continental breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m.).  Advance seminar/lunch registration for OSBA members is $85 and $100 for non-members; seminar-only registration is $60 for members and $70 for non-members; lunch-only registration is $25 for members and $30 for non-members.  After Sept. 28, $25 will be added to the total registration fee.

The Ohio State Bar Association, founded in 1880, is a voluntary association representing approximately 25,000 members of the bench and bar of Ohio as well as nearly 4,000 legal assistants and law students.  Through its activities and the activities of its related organizations, the OSBA serves both its members and the public by promoting the highest standards in the practice of law and the administration of justice.
