OSBA to hold district meeting in Marion

COLUMBUS (Sept. 23, 2009) - The president of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) will visit Marion on Thursday, Oct. 8 to speak to area attorneys about current issues facing the legal profession.

Barbara Howard, 2009-2010 OSBA president, will address the annual luncheon meeting of OSBA District 5 at the Marion Country Club (2415 Crissinger Rd., Marion).  OSBA District 5 includes 438 members practicing in Crawford, Delaware, Marion, Morrow, Seneca and Wyandot counties. 

Albert L. Bell of Westerville, Robert H. Coldren of Delaware, William D. Dauterman of Port Clinton, John P. Firstenberger of Marion, Lowell B. Garverick of Galion and Regis R. Jones of Bucyrus will be recognized for their 50 years of service to the profession.  J. Sebastian Berger of Crestline will receive the Ohio State Bar Foundation Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under.

David A. Hejmanowski, District 5 representative on the OSBA Board of Governors, will preside over the meeting, which will include the election of two members to the OSBA Council of Delegates.  Bradley C. Bebout, Marion County Bar Association president, will deliver welcoming remarks.  OSBA members are welcome to attend the business meeting at no charge. 

Before and after the noon luncheon meeting, optional continuing legal education seminars will be offered from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (registration and continental breakfast beginning at 8:30 a.m.) and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., for a total of 4.5 continuing legal education (CLE) credit hours.  Seminar-only registration is $65 for OSBA members and $75 for non-members; luncheon registration is $20 for members and $25 for non-members; seminar/lunch registration is $85 for members and $100 for non-members.  After Oct. 1, $25 will be added to the total registration fee.

The Ohio State Bar Association, founded in 1880, is a voluntary association representing approximately 25,000 members of the bench and bar of Ohio as well as nearly 4,000 legal assistants and law students.  Through its activities and the activities of its related organizations, the OSBA serves both its members and the public by promoting the highest standards in the practice of law and the administration of justice.
