OSBA POLICY ON RACIAL AND ETHNIC DIVERSITY IN THE PROFESSION
The Ohio State Bar Association affirms its commitment to racial and ethnic diversity in the profession and establishes the enhancement of diversity as a significant goal of the Association. To that end, the Association will promote the full and equal participation of racial and ethnic minorities in the legal profession by:
- Working to remove economic, educational, and attitudinal impediments that may exist to entry into and advancement in the profession;
- Assisting bar associations, law schools, governmental entities, firms and corporations to enhance development of interest in the profession, training, work experience, recruitment and retention of minorities;
- Encouraging the involvement of minority lawyers in organized bar activities and leadership; and
- Establishing a diversity action plan which includes monitoring progress toward diversity across the State and throughout the range of affected and affecting organizations.
The Association commits to coordination, collaboration and facilitation of the objectives in this Policy, and urges its affiliated organizations and other associations and law schools to adopt policies and plans consistent with these objectives.
