The Law Student Hub on the OSBA website is designed specifically for student associate members. The Law Student Hub contains feature articles of interest to law school students, news from Ohio law schools and information about the OSBA.

Publications

A great study guide and research aid, the OSBA Report can now be delivered to email inboxes, cell phones and other mobile devices. It includes case summaries and links to the full text of all Supreme Court of Ohio decisions, as well as decisions from the courts of appeals and trial courts. The OSBA Report also contains links to job postings on the OSBA website. Through email, the full website, and a new OSBA Report app, the updated Report can truly go anywhere.

Published bimonthly, Ohio Lawyer examines legal trends and issues through feature articles. Regular columns include commentary on professional ethics, an overview of the latest news from the Ohio legislature and reports on OSBA activities. Students are encouraged to submit articles for consideration.

Committees and sections

The OSBA has 11 sections and more than 30 committees that focus on specific areas of the law. Getting involved in committee and section work as a student is an excellent way to get more involved in the OSBA. It can also assist you in determining the area of law in which you might ultimately want to practice. Committees and sections work to accomplish their goals and objectives by amending and drafting legislation and developing legal/public education and networking programs. Committees and sections also publish studies and advise the OSBA leadership in developing polices.

Committee membership is free to all interested OSBA members. Student associate members can join any section by paying the special student rate of $3 per year. Membership in the Young Lawyers Section is free for law student members.

Insurance offerings

The OSBA Insurance Agency provides all OSBA members with a variety of insurance programs at competitive rates. Individual and group medical,s hort-term medical, dental, disability, life, and business overhead insurance programs are all available to members.

Networking opportunities

The OSBA offers student members many opportunities to meet and network with practicing attorneys throughout Ohio.In addition to the committee and section meetings, annual district meetings are held locally in each of the OSBA’s 18 districts across the state, and the OSBA Annual Convention draws close to 1,000 attorneys to seminars and social events. The OSBA encourages student members to attend these meetings for free.
