OSBAIA individual health insurance

Individual/family health insurance

Open enrollment for 2014 health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act has ended, but the OSBA Insurance Agency may still be able to provide you with coverage if you have had a "qualifying life event."

Examples of qualifying life events include:

  • Losing other health coverage—due to losing job-based coverage, divorce, COBRA expiration, aging off a parent’s plan, losing eligibility for Medicaid or CHIP, or similar circumstances (Important: Voluntarily ending coverage or losing coverage that does not qualify as minimum essential coverage  does not qualify you for a special enrollment period.);
  • Marriage;
  • Having a baby;
  • Adopting a child or placing a child for adoption or foster care;
  • Moving outside your insurer’s coverage area; and
  • Gaining citizenship.
If you eligible for one of these qualifying life events, you have 60 days from the date of the qualifying event to apply for coverage. Coverage will begin the first of the month after the application is submitted. For a no obligation quote on an individual policy, please complete the Individual Health Quote Request Form.

The next open enrollment period begins Nov. 15, 2014, and runs through Feb. 15, 2014, for coverage beginning in 2015.

If you have immediate questions, please contact the OSBA Insurance Agency today at (855) 745-9222.
