Attorney Ronald S. Kopp of Akron has been elected to serve as the District 11 representative on the Board of Governors of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA). District 11 includes 1,388 attorneys who reside or practice in Portage and Summit counties.
Kopp, a business litigation attorney in the Akron and Cleveland offices of Roetzel and Andress, was elected to his new post by area lawyers at an OSBA district meeting several months ago. He succeeds retiring District 11 representative Jeff Heintz, an Akron attorney. Kopp will also serve on the OSBA Board of Governors’ Budget & Headquarters Committee.
The 21-member Board of Governors meets monthly to manage the association’s business affairs, set policy, review pending legislation and conduct other business on behalf of the 25,000 Ohio lawyers who are OSBA members.
Kopp received his bachelor’s degree from Miami University and his law degree from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He has served as president of the Akron Bar Association and as Governor of the Akron Bar Foundation. Additionally, he is a past member of the Ohio State Bar Association’s Council of Delegates and is a current member of the Federal Bar Association.
Within the community, Kopp has held leadership positions in numerous organizations, including Leadership Akron (vice-chair), the Welty Family Foundation, the John S. Knight Memorial Journalism Fund, Akron General Medical Center Foundation, United Disability Services, the Summit County Historical Society and the Fairlawn Country Club (past president).
Kopp and his wife, Jean, have three children, Meghan, Molly, and Andrew, as well as a Havanese puppy, Bogart. They recently celebrated the birth of their first grandchild, Liam Schultz. In his free time, Kopp enjoys golf, genealogy and reading.
