Columbus, OH (July 1, 2003) – Attorney Thomas P. Moushey of Alliance has been elected to serve a three-year term as District 14 representative on the Board of Governors of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA). District 14 includes 694 attorneys who reside or practice in Carroll, Stark and Tuscarawas counties.
Moushey, an attorney in the Alliance firm of Geiger, Teeple, Smith, and Hahn, was elected to his new post by area lawyers at an OSBA district meeting several months ago. He succeeds retiring District 14 representative Douglas N. Godshall of North Canton, whose term concluded June 30.
The 21-member Board of Governors meets monthly to manage the association's business affairs, set policy, review pending legislation and conduct other business on behalf of the 25,000 Ohio lawyers who are OSBA members.
Moushey earned his bachelor’s degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and his law degree from the University of Toledo in 1977. In 1995, Moushey served as president of the Stark County Bar Association.
In the community, Moushey acts as trustee for the Rodman Public Library, the Alliance Area Habitat for Humanity, and the Alliance Community Soccer Club. He is also a member of the Alliance Zoning Board.
He and his wife, Suzanne, have two children: Jeff, 22; and Kate, 20.
The Ohio State Bar Association, founded in 1880, is a voluntary association representing approximately 25,000 members of the bench and bar of Ohio as well as nearly 4,000 legal assistants and law students. Through its activities and the activities of its related organizations, the OSBA serves both its members and the public by promoting the highest standards in the practice of law and the administration of justice.
