Columbus, Ohio (September 26, 2001) – The Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) is sponsoring a joint bench/bar conference of the United States District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, Thursday and Friday, October 25-26 at the Hyatt on Capitol Square in Columbus. This joint meeting of the bench and bar is the first-ever meeting of the Northern and Southern Districts.
This is a unique opportunity for attorneys with a federal court practice. On Thursday, there will be joint meetings of the District and Magistrate Judges, as well as lawyers practicing in the Northern and Southern Districts. The Federal Bar Association Chapters of the Northern and Southern Districts will sponsor a cocktail reception on Thursday evening, with a special dinner program to follow.
Friday’s sessions will focus on the common needs and challenges in both districts, including hot issues in discovery. Afternoon breakout sessions will include electronic filing, dealing with state law issues in Federal court, the settlement process and current criminal practice areas. Federal judges and attorneys practicing in Federal court will facilitate these sessions.
This OSBA program has been approved for 7.5 hours of continuing legal education credit. The registration fee is $175. Space is limited.
