COLUMBUS (Sept. 13, 2012) – Ohio State Bar Foundation President Heather G. Sowald is pleased to announce that Jonathan Hollingsworth of Dayton has become a Fellow of the Foundation.
Membership in the Foundation is an honor extended to those lawyers and judges who adhere to the highest ideals of the legal profession and are dedicated to serving their communities. Each year the Foundation invites civic-minded lawyers to become part of a Fellows Class. Over the course of 13 months, the Fellows volunteer their time to projects that promote the Foundation’s mission of improving the justice system and enhancing public understanding of the law.
Hollingsworth is principal in the Dayton firm of J. Hollingsworth & Associates, LLC, where he concentrates on litigation, employment, corporate and business, insurance defense, medical malpractice, personal injury and legal disciplinary matters. He began his career at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur LLP, and later became a shareholder in the firm of Washington & Hollingsworth.
Hollingsworth has taught classes in Negotiation and Dispute Resolution for the Graduate Management Program at Antioch University McGregor in Yellow Springs, Ohio, and Law Practice Management at the University of Dayton School Of Law.
President-elect of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA), Hollingsworth has served on the OSBA’s Board of Governors, and chaired the board’s Membership, Public & Media Relations and Publications Committee. He has also served on its Audit Committee. Currently, Hollingsworth chairs the OSBA’s Advisory Council on Diversity Initiatives. He is also a past chair of the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline for the Supreme Court of Ohio and has served on the Supreme Court of Ohio Task Force on the Code of Judicial Conduct and the Task Force on Rules of Professional Conduct.
In addition to his service to state and local bar associations and the legal profession, Hollingsworth has served the greater Dayton community as chair of the Dayton-Montgomery County Port Authority. Other past community involvements include the Dayton Urban League, Family Service Association of Dayton, Greater Dayton Public Television, Greater Dayton Volunteer Lawyers Project, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Dayton, Dayton Bar Foundation and the Montgomery County Transportation Improvement District.
Hollingsworth is a 1980 graduate of Harvard University and earned his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1983.
