COLUMBUS–(July 1, 2013) — David
J. Sternberg of Mentor has been elected to serve a three-year term as District
18 representative on the Board of Governors of the Ohio State Bar Association
(OSBA). District 18 includes 635
attorneys who reside or practice in Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, and Trumbull
Area lawyers elected Sternberg to his new post at an OSBA
district meeting several months ago. He succeeds retiring District 18
representative, Kevin P. Murphy of Warren, whose term concluded June 30.
The 21-member Board of Governors meets monthly to manage
the OSBA’s business affairs, set policy, review pending legislation and conduct
other business on behalf of the 25,000 Ohio lawyers and 4,000 legal assistants
and law students who are OSBA members.
Sternberg earned his undergraduate degree from Miami
University in business administration, and his law degree from The Ohio State
University Moritz College of Law in 1973.
A principal in the Mentor firm of Sternberg & Zeid Co., LPA, he has
a general law practice that includes bankruptcy, family law, personal injury,
real estate and workers’ compensation matters. Sternberg is a past president of
the Lake County Bar Association and is a member of the American Bar Association
and the Ohio Association of Justice.
An active member of his community, Sternberg has served
as a board member for United Way of Lake County, for Temple Emanu El, and for
Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Lake County. Sternberg and his wife, Marlene, live
in Beachwood and have two grown children: Katherine, 26, and Jared, 22.
The Ohio State Bar Association, founded in 1880, is a
voluntary association representing approximately 25,000 members of the bench
and bar of Ohio as well as nearly 4,000 legal assistants and law students. Through
its activities and the activities of its related organizations, the OSBA serves
both its members and the public by promoting the highest standards in the
practice of law and the administration of justice.
