OSBA president to honor area lawyers in Geneva-on-the-Lake on Sept. 27

Columbus, Ohio (September 19, 2017) – The President of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) will visit Geneva-on-the-Lake on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, where he will recognize area attorneys for their service to the profession and the community.  

 

Randall M. Comer, 2017-2018 OSBA President, will address the OSBA District 18 Annual Meeting at The Lodge at Geneva on the Lake (4888 North Broadway (SR 5340, Geneva-on-the-Lake, OH 44041). OSBA District 18 includes more than 600 attorneys who practice in Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake and Trumbull counties.  

  

The OSBA will remember the life and career of Bruce O. Baumgartner of Chagrin Falls, a retired senior partner at BakerHostetler in Cleveland, who passed away in July and had practiced law for 50 years. The Ohio State Bar Foundation will also present its Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under to John M. Buchenic of Hubbard.  

  

In addition, Richard K. Desmond of Chagrin Falls will be honored for 65 years in practice and service to the profession; and both Richard Z. Jambor of Painesville and W. Dallas Woodall of Warren will be recognized for 50 years in practice and service to t​he profession.*   

 

Stuart W. Cordell, the District 18 representative to the OSBA Board of Governors, will preside over the meeting, which begins at 12:00 p.m., and will include the election of members to the OSBA Council of Delegates, with the terms commencing on July 1, 2018.  

 

President Comer will discuss the future of the legal profession and what attorneys can do to relate to and support their clients amid a time of great technological, cultural and economic change.  

 

Immediately preceding the luncheon meeting and recognition, attorneys may attend an optional 2.5-hour continuing legal education professional conduct seminar from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

About Stuart W. Cordell, District 18 Representative to the OSBA Board of Governors 

Stuart W. Cordell joined the OSBA Board of Governors in 2016. Cordell is a partner in the Ashtabula firm of Warren and Young PLL. His current practice focuses on business and corporate law, nonprofits, real estate law, and estate planning and probate administration. He serves on the Andover Bancorp., Inc. Board of Directors and as a trustee for several other Ashtabula County nonprofit organizations and foundations. Cordell earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.  

 

About OSBA President Randall Comer 

Randall Comer began his term as President of the Ohio State Bar Association on July 1, 2017. A native of Springfield, Ohio, he has been a partner at Martin, Browne, Hull & Harper since 2008, where he specializes in general defense litigation with an emphasis on labor, employment, and workers' compensation matters. Randall earned his bachelor's degree from the College of Charleston and his law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where he was editor in chief of the UC Law Review.
