Ohio State Bar Association president to honor area lawyers in Canton on Nov. 15

Columbus, Ohio (November 10, 2017) – The p​resident of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) will visit Canton on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, where he will recognize area attorneys for their service to the profession and the community.

Randall M. Comer, 2017-2018 OSBA President, will address the OSBA District 14 Annual Meeting at the McKinley Grand Hotel (320 Market Ave S, Canton, OH 44702). OSBA District 14 includes more than 600 attorneys who practice in Carroll, Stark, and Tuscarawas counties. Members to be honored include*:

For 65 years of practice and service to the profession:
John R. Milligan of North Canton
Earl C. Sheehan of North Canton

For 50 years in practice and service to the profession:
Charles E. Brown of Alliance
Fred J. Haupt of Canton
Sean Keenan of Canton
Phillip D. Schandel of Massillon
Joseph I. Tripodi of New Philadelphia

The Ohio State Bar Foundation will also present its Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under to Stephan P. Babik of North Canton.

The Honorable Paul B. Hervey, the District 14 representative to the OSBA Board of Governors, will preside over the meeting, which begins at 12:00 p.m., and will include the election of a member to serve on the OSBA Board of Governors and members to serve on the OSBA Council of Delegates, with the terms commencing on July 1, 2018.

President Comer will discuss the future of the legal profession and what attorneys can do to relate to and support their clients amid a time of great technological, cultural and economic change.

Immediately following the luncheon meeting and recognition, attorneys may attend an optional 2.5-hour continuing legal education professional conduct seminar from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

About Paul B. Hervey, District 14 Representative to the OSBA Board of Governors
Paul B. Hervey joined the OSBA Board of Governors on July 1, 2015, having been elected to a three-year term. Hervey earned his undergraduate degree from Franklin and Marshall College and his law degree from Case Western Reserve University. He currently works as an attorney in New Philadelphia with Fitzpatrick, Zimmerman, & Rose Co. LPA. He enjoys coaching youth sports and volunteering.

About OSBA President Randall Comer
Randall Comer began his term as President of the Ohio State Bar Association on July 1, 2017. A native of Springfield, Ohio, he has been a partner at Martin, Browne, Hull & Harper since 2008, where he specializes in general defense litigation with an emphasis on labor, employment, and workers’ compensation matters. Randall earned his bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston and his law degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, where he was editor in chief of the UC Law Review.
