Senior lawyers to be honored at OSBA District 10 meeting

COLUMBUS (March 28, 2013) - The president of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) will be in Sandusky on Wednesday, April 10, to speak to area attorneys about current issues facing the legal profession and to honor local lawyers for their service to the profession.

Judge Patrick F. Fischer, 2012-2013 OSBA president, will address the annual luncheon meeting of OSBA District 10 at the Kalahari Resort and Convention Center (7000 Kalahari Dr., Sandusky). OSBA District 10 includes 1,054 members who practice in Ashland, Erie, Holmes, Lorain, Medina, Richland, Huron and Wayne counties.  

Welcoming remarks and the lunch will begin at noon. D. Chris Cook, District 10 representative on the OSBA Board of Governors, will preside over the meeting, which will include the election of four members to the OSBA Council of Delegates. Robert T. Kelsey, Erie County Bar Association president, will deliver welcoming remarks. OSBA members are welcome to attend the meeting at no charge.

Attorneys being honored for 50 years in practice include C. Nevada Johnson of Medina, John V. McFadden of North Ridgeville, Dennis E. Murray of Sandusky and Daniel P. Stringer of Avon. Also, Roger D. Proper of Wooster will be presented with the Ohio State Bar Foundation Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under.

An optional 2.5-hour continuing legal education (CLE) seminar will precede the luncheon meeting beginning at 9:00 a.m. (registration and continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m.). Advance luncheon/CLE seminar is $100 for OSBA members and $125 for non-members. Lunch-only registration is $30 for members and $40 for non-members. Seminar-only registration is $70 for members and $85 for non-members. After April 3, $25 will be added to the total registration fee.

The Ohio State Bar Association, founded in 1880, is a voluntary association representing approximately 25,000 members of the bench and bar of Ohio as well as nearly 4,000 legal assistants and law students. Through its activities and the activities of its related organizations, the OSBA serves both its members and the public by promoting the highest standards in the practice of law and the administration of justice.
