State bar president to honor area lawyers

Columbus, OHIO (Oct. 7, 2013) – The president of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) will visit Chillicothe on Tuesday, Oct. 22, to speak to area attorneys about current issues facing the legal profession and to honor members of the profession.

Jonathan Hollingsworth, 2013-2014 OSBA president, will address the annual luncheon meeting of OSBA District 8 at the Chillicothe Country Club (800 Arch Street, Chillicothe). OSBA District 8 includes 333 members who practice in Adams, Brown, Gallia, Highland, Jackson, Lawrence, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, Scioto and Vinton counties. 

Judge Richard L. Davis of Hillsboro will be recognized for his 65 years of service to the profession. Justin R. Blume of Portsmouth will receive the Ohio State Bar Foundation Community Service Award for Attorneys 40 and Under.

Thomas T. Book, District 8 representative on the OSBA Board of Governors, will preside over the meeting, which will include the election of one member to the OSBA Council of Delegates. Magistrate John C. DiCesare, Ross County Bar Association president, will deliver welcoming remarks. OSBA members are welcome to attend the business meeting at no charge.

Following the noon luncheon meeting and recognition, optional continuing legal education (CLE) seminars will be offered from 1:30 to 4 p.m. for a total of 2.5 CLE credit hours. Advance seminar registration is $70 for OSBA members and $85 for non-members; lunch is $22 for members and $27 for non-members. After Oct. 15, $25 will be added to the total registration fee. The OSBA Young Lawyers Section invites all local young lawyers (age 36 or younger or in practice for five years or less) to attend the annual district luncheon at no charge, with registration completed by the early registration deadline.
