OSBA Paralegal Student Associate membership is open to any student enrolled in a paralegal program.
Paralegal program students may join the OSBA for free. Membership benefits for students include the weekly OSBA Report online; access to all members-only areas of the OSBA website, including access to Casemaker—the OSBA's online legal research tool—that is free for members; an online legal career center; and an invitation to join the OSBA Paralegals Committee.
Once you graduate from your program and obtain employment as a legal professional, you may continue your OSBA membership as a regular paralegal member. Dues for regular paralegal members are just $85 per year and include subscriptions to Ohio Lawyer magazine, OSBA Report online and Casemaker, as well as membership in the OSBA Paralegals Committee. Regular paralegal members are also entitled to take three OSBA CLE courses for free per year (space permitting).
For purposes of OSBA membership, a paralegal is a person, qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity and who performs substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible. Regular paralegal members must be sponsored by an attorney member of the OSBA in good standing.
