Districts 7 and 12 to hold mail ballot elections

District 7 (Franklin County) and District 12 (Cuyahoga County) will elect representatives for the Ohio State Bar Association Council of Delegates by mail ballot. The newly elected representatives will serve two-year terms commencing July 1, 2014. District 7 will also elect a representative to the OSBA Board of Governors for a three-year term commencing July 1, 2014.

Members of the Council meet at least twice a year to consider legislative proposals offered by the Association’s committees and sections. In addition, members also consider proposed rule changes to the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct, Ohio Rules for the Government of the Bar and other matters pertaining to the Association and the legal profession.

District 7 will elect 14 members to the Council of Delegates. Current District 7 Council members whose terms expire June 30, 2014, are Sally W. Bloomfield, Alphonse Cincione, Kenneth R. Cookson, Hilary Damaser, H. Ritchey Hollenbaugh, Charles Kettlewell, John L. Landolfi, Helen M. MacMurray, Alvin E. Mathews, David C. Patterson, Anthony M. Sharett, Heather G. Sowald, Elizabeth J. Watters and Bradley B. Wrightsel.

District 7 will also elect a representative to the OSBA Board of Governors for a three-year term commencing July 1, 2014. Belinda Barnes will be completing her three-year term on June 30, 2014.

District 12 will elect 17 members to the Council of Delegates. Current District 12 Council members whose terms expire June 30, 2014, are Stephanie D. Adams, Deborah Akers-Parry, David Arnold, Matthew Besser, Kenneth A. Bravo, Mary L. Cibella, Darrell Clay, Joanne E. Hindel, Stacy C. Hinners, Jacob A. H. Kronenberg, Kelly Summers Lawrence, Marlon Primes, Marquettes C. Robinson, Adam J. Russ, Daniel J. Ryan, Donald E. Worthing and Barbara Friedman Yaksic.

How to apply
Any OSBA member from Districts 7 or 12 may declare their candidacy by sending a letter of declaration. The letter should be sent to:

Letters of declaration must be received by close of business on Feb. 21, 2014.

In addition to the mandatory letter of declaration, candidates are encouraged to send a brief statement or biographical summary, not to exceed 50 words. Only the first 50 words of any summary will be included in the ballot mailing.
