National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals launches Ohio Chapter

The National Academy of Distinguished Neutrals (NADN) is pleased to announce the launch of its Ohio Chapter. The Academy is an invitation-only association whose membership consists of mediators and arbitrators distinguished by their hands-on experience in the field of civil/commercial conflict resolution and by their commitment to the practice of alternative dispute resolution.

Just nine attorneys and judges have been accepted as Charter Members for the Ohio Chapter, including a majority of the state’s best-established ADR professionals. Executive Committee members for the Ohio Chapter are Susan Grody Ruben, Hon. James McMonagle and Hon. John M. Meagher.

The new Ohio Chapter website at is designed to make life easier for local attorneys, corporate counsel, adjusters and legal support staff. The site allows firms to quickly find a suitable neutral by identifying their preferred dispute type, navigating to a roster of the that state’s most trusted neutrals as preferred by local litigators. A majority of the academy’s members also publish their availability calendars online for the benefit of clients. This allows the selection of a top-tier neutral and the scheduling of appointments to be greatly expedited for all parties involved. is connected to the national database, already in wide use in many other states including Texas, California, North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Arizona and particularly in Florida, where the database was developed for the local litigation community. Widely used by litigation firms, the academy database saw more than 30,000 appointments scheduled online in 2011 by more than 5000 unique law offices.

“Since the launch of our original Florida Chapter website in 2006, we’d heard from literally hundreds of firms and scheduling staff saying how useful they find the site, particularly the calendar functionality,” commented Darren Lee, executive director of the National Academy. “We’ve made it quick and easy for attorneys or staff to navigate straight to the information they need. We certainly look forward to working with the premier ADR attorneys in the state of Ohio in the years to come, and expect that the website will prove just as useful to paralegals and attorneys across that state as it has in the South-Eastern U.S. over recent years.”
