The following letter was written and submitted by James A. Kiger, a 50-year practitioner from Washington Court House and an OSBA sustaining member for the past 40 years.
Dear Mr. Ramey:
Thank you for your letter of Oct. 12, 2012, advising me
that I am eligible to have an Honorary Life Membership in the Ohio State Bar
Association effective April 1, 2013.
After 50 years, I am still practicing law every day. In
April 2013, I will have been a sustaining member of our Association for 40
years. I wish the Association to continue to bill me for these dues each year
as long as I continue my practice. Over the years, it has been such an honor to
have been associated with many of these great lawyers who make up this
Like many of these men and women, I belong to and am a
member of the most noble, prestigious and select professions in the world, “we
who keep and make the law,” which is the fabric that binds our society. I wear
this cloak of pride every day.
Enclosed find a check in the amount of $1,000 to be used to
carry on the good work of the Association. It is a small token of my gratitude.
I wish to continue to receive the OSBA Report (the green book), as I have read
it all my legal life.
In conclusion, again it has been an honor to have practiced
my profession in this great state for 50 years and be a member of this
